All this new JW.org stuff is hurting my brain
by Nosferatu inso i just watched the singing cart video.
i literally cannot describe how i felt watching that.. growing up as a jw was serious business.
we had to take the preaching work seriously, watch our conduct, give a good witness by our actions, and be on our best behaviour to ensure we made it through the great tribulation.. when i was a child, i had dreams of being a cartoonist.

As I mentioned in another thread it looks like there is a "worldly" PR man behind all of this rebranding going on. The Governing Body simply don't have the imagination to come up with any of this. They must have sensed the general malaise within their members and decided to get professional help (of the wrong kind) to deal with it. -

mosquitos, and vampire bats.
by brandnew insince everything in life is supposed to be created by god, why did he create mosquitos, and vampire bats?.
mosquitos and vpbats live by taking in blood from other animals, and well humans too.
so my question is.....why would he forbid blood transfusions , when he made creatures who live off of others blood?

This is the story that explains it all:
Once upon a time there was this talking snake who told a naked lady to eat a fruit and share it with a naked man who had a missing rib.
Then all hell broke loose. Lions stopped eating grass and started gobbling up baby lambs; Tyrannosaurus stopped munching on palm trees and started sinking their teeth into Brontosaurs; and Galaxies started crashing into each other.
Please don't laugh because if you do some nasty worm is going to start boring into your eyes.

Site Update: Feb 4, 2015
by Simon ini have found the issue with the user post-counts being incorrect and the update to put them right is running right now.
it's upto people who joined about 5 years ago so if you're more recent than that just give it a while before checking again.. i've made a few tweaks to the css to fix some issues with ie which caused the side-bar to be pushed down under the main content instead of alongside it and also the reply counters didn't have any color to indicate the busiest topics.. the snippet / topic preview options should now be a little neater and clearer.. other than that, most of the changes have been backend stuff around optimization so nothing really to see but it should pave the way for feedback on the post like / dislike voting and other goodies..

Snoozy: "So is Mouthy (Grace) still with us? Was thinking about her the other day."
Yes, she posts from time to time.

Thankyou tv.jw! you are helping my wife wake up!
by stuckinarut2 ini have to thank tv.jw!!!
(im not putting the complete link, but you know what i mean).
after showing my wife the 'trolley song' as we now call it, she was rolling on the floor in embarrassment and shock.. she shook her head, and was clearly troubled by what we watched.. little by little, the org is actually helping more to wake up!

I know, deep down inside, that they must have a "worldly" PR man making suggestions to the GB on how to reach out to their members. The GB just doesn't have the imagination to come up with these videos. -

Have you tried contacting a Catholic university or college to see if they have a copy in their library? Perhaps you have one nearby. I doubt that if they do you'll be able to check it out but they might allow you to read it in their library.
Also, you may try contacting the offices of Catholic Biblical Quarterly and see if they can send you a photocopy of the article.

Curious how today's JWs view the anti-vaxxer movement
by undercover ini wonder how the average jw in our modern world views the new anti-vaxxer movement.
do they sympathize, agree - or - see them as kooky, out of touch, nutso - or - somewhere in between.. remember, back in the olden, golden days...or should i say, the golden age, the wts took a hard line stance against vaccinations.
see jwfacts info regarding the the anti-vaccination stand taken by the wts:.

I don't think the Watchtower will ever take any firm position like they did yesteryear. If they even bother to mention the subject they will simply take an "it's up to your conscience" position. -

South Texas Introduction
by artsteel inwow, amazing to read all these experiences.. luckily, i walked away from them 20 some odd years ago because i wasn't making it financially and decided to pursue higher education.
best decision i ever made.
i was able to finish my degrees and i still shake my head at how these people really believe, really mind boggling.. most family members and friends i knew stopped talking to me, and up to this day i'm glad they did.. .

"Religion gives us the Why"
by Phizzy ini have heard this nonsense said by many believers, especially when science conflicts with their belief, they say:.
" well, science may tell us how we got here, religion tells us why we are here".
does religion tell us that ?

“I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.”
...
“EVERY national church or religion has established itself by pretending some special mission from God, communicated to certain individuals. The Jews have their Moses; the Christians their Jesus Christ, their apostles and saints; and the Turks their Mahomet; as if the way to God was not open to every man alike.
“Each of those churches shows certain books, which they call revelation, or the Word of God. The Jews say that their Word of God was given by God to Moses face to face; the Christians say, that their Word of God came by divine inspiration; and the Turks say, that their Word of God (the Koran) was brought by an angel from heaven. Each of those churches accuses the other of unbelief; and, for my own part, I disbelieve them all.”

No such thing as history
by woodforde inwhy do you think it is that wts limit accessibility to watchtowers and awakes to only issues since year 2000 on jworg?
a whiff of something slightly orwellian?
not a case of re-writing history but nixing it altogether?
